The WiFi Lights connect over WiFi, so you need a wireless access point connected to the switcher network. Connect each WiFi Light to your computer or smartphone via WiFi to set up network credentials, IP addresses, and the camera input number (download the manual). They then connect to your switcher via the WiFi network. Therefore, you need to have a wireless access point (a regular WiFi router), to which the Atem control panel is also connected via a LAN cable. WiFiTally lights do not require any control unit or operating program running on your computer.
You can use as max 4pcs WiFiTally lights with blackmagic design switcher
All you need is a decent wireless access point to set up a stable 2.4Ghz b/g/n WiFi network, connected to your switcher WiFi router. You also need some powerbank, or a USB power source for each WiFiTally Light.
The range depends largely on the performance of the wireless access point and any physical obstacles present, but is similar to other devices connected to the same network, such as phones and tablets. If necessary, the range can be easily extended by adding additional access points to the network. When combined with our pre-configured router, the best option for expanding the network is to use a Mesh extender system.
We wanted the WiFi lights to be as small and lightweight as possible, without restricting your movement. It also gives you the freedom to choose the most optimal power source for your setup. Many cameras have some form of power output, such as a USB port, which can be used to power the WiFiTally light.
